Green Tea for Energy

There is so much talk about energy drinks these days.  Some experts say that they are ok and safe and others that say they are completely dangerous and can have adverse effects on the body.  My personal opinion on this is that 95% of these drinks are complete crap.  They are loaded with sugar and un godly amounts of caffein.  Not to mention some of them give you a total amount of vitamins way over your daily UI limit.  Green teas and green tea extract seems to be the way to go these days. It will give you that boost of energy with with naturally occuring vitamins A and C, potassium and iron, nutrients and fiber, this is a healthy alternative to a morning cup of coffee.     Imperial Matcha, Japanese Powdered Green Tea (Google Affiliate Ad)

Burst Cardio

Everyone always wants to know what is the best type of cardio.  What will give me the best bang for my buck.  The answer is a little different for each individual depending on their level of fitness, but my motto is go hard or go home.  The thing with cardio is to burn calories correct?  Well while that is true you also have to know that you can spend less time on cardio and burn more calories if you do it correctly.  My personal favorite is burst style cardio which looks a little like this:

1 min warm up walk
1 min jog
30 seconds sprints
30 seconds rest

Repeat

Start out doing 10 minutes of this before your weight training.  Challenge yourself to get to where you can do 20 minutes or even 30.   Doing this style cardio will not only burn more calories but it will save you time.  For my clients with knee problems I have them do a very similar style cardio on an elliptical or even a spin bike.  Push yourselves, you will be tired, but results take hard work.

Breakfast

Breakfast may just be the most important meal of the day. Remember that your body is in a catabolic state ( not burning ) while you're sleeping. To kick start your metabolism for the day, eat a breakfast that consist of some protein, complex carbohydrates, simple carbohydrates, and healthy fat. They all work together to keep your blood sugar level and give you sustained energy through the morning. One of my favorites is 3 egg whites, one yolk scrambled topped with half an avocado a scoop of cottage cheese and salsa. Yum!!!!!
